Why choose Biodegradable glitter?

Why choose Biodegradable glitter? - Dust & Dance

We get a lot of questions about what our glitters are made from, so i'm here to answer all those questions for you.

Our glitter mixes for the face and hair are made from a film that comes from trees, primarily eucalyptus which is sourced from responsibly managed plantations. Our biodegradable glitter is also:

- Eco-friendly
- Compostable
- Marine and waste water biodegradable
- Cosmetically safe
- Softer on the skin compared to plastic glitter
- Environmentally sourced
- Renewable raw ingredients to FSC standards
- Cruelty free

Our eco-friendly glitter is best stored in a dry, dark, cool environment. Make sure it is out of direct sunlight, away from direct heat sources and not exposed to microorganisms.

Why make the switch? Plastic glitter vs Biodegradable glitter

Plastic glitter will take hundreds of years to decompose and most glitter, because of its size will end up in the oceans and in fish. However, with biodegradable glitter little micro organisms found in places like soil and in the ocean will eat it over a period of months. That's how it breaks down! 😃

Plastic glitter is a form of ‘micro plastic’ and its also single use plastic: it will not be recycled. They are small bits of plastic of a certain size and are found mostly in exfoliating scrubs, cleaners and toothpaste. We are all aware of the effects that plastic has on our oceans and the research continues, but many species of marine life have been confirmed of ingesting this micro plastic. This has major consequences for the sea life.

Unlike plastic, our glitter takes little time to breakdown and decompose, but is also designed to be metabolised by microorganisms in the sewage system so very little will end up in the ocean. These micro-organisms are also present in the ocean and in soil and the glitter is consumed over several months.

Biodegradable glitter is a tiny little swap for you which can make the world of difference! 🌍

Hey, I was wondering if your glitters would be ok to use in wax melts as they are biodegradable?

    Many thanks
